Why go to Sardinia?

Sardinia is one of the most beautiful places to explore on a cruise in the Mediterranean sea. This gorgeous island is full of gems, beaches, creeks and spots mostly deserted from tourists. Renting a boat in Sardinia is the perfect way to enjoy these places, away from touristy beaches. Maddalena, the biggest harbor on the island, is the perfect starting point for your cruise around Sardinia.

1-week itinerary

Day 1: Departing from Ajaccio

Embark at 6pm sharp on the catamaran. Settle down in your private room and explore the boat. Your skipper will welcome you and share some security rules. Then, it’s time to set sail along the coast. Let the holiday start! First, you will head to the “Iles Sanguinaires” (The Blood Islands). Situated close to Ajaccio, these islands are the definition of wild beauty. If you are feeling adventurous, you can climb all the way to the Génoise tower overlooking the main island and enjoy the spectacular view of the Bay of Ajaccio.

Day 2: Cala di Conca

Leaving the Blood Islands, we will set sail for Cala di Conca. During the 4-hour journey, you will have a spectacular view of the wild coasts of Corsica. You will also be able to troll for fish with your skipper! Once you make it to Cala di Conca, you will be amazed by the beauty of the blue water. Get your fins and snorkel masks ready, and dive in!

Day 3: Journey to Sardinia and docking at Cala d'Arena

Say goodbye to Cala di Conca and set sail for Sardinia and Cala d’Arena! During this long journey in the blue water of the Mediterranean sea, you might get to see marine mammals. Thanks to their experience and commitment to protecting biodiversity, our skippers will make sure you get the best view without disturbing the animals. Weather permitting, the skipper might also let you swim in the middle of the sea to cool down during the long journey. Have you ever swum in 1000 meter-deep water? This will truly be an unforgettable experience. Once you make it to Cala d’Arena, you will be able to explore Asinara National Park. This marine wildlife is protected and offers a spectacular snorkeling experience. If you feel like relaxing, you can sunbathe on the white sand.

Day 4: Cala di Sgombro di Dentro

Set sail to the south to reach Cala di Sgombro di Dentro. This rocky inlet is very wild and ends with a lagoon offering rare vegetation. You will be able to enjoy water activities such as wakeboarding, or walk to the Hameau de Tumbarino to explore its ruins. You will be amazed by all the fauna on the seabed.

Day 5: Docking at La Pelosa

For your 5th day on the boat, your skipper will take you to La Pelosa, a nautical sports and snorkeling paradise. It is the only place in the Mediterranean sea where the water is so blue in such a big area. La Pelosa is a local favorite and the perfect place for relaxing and swimming. In the evening, you can walk to the port of Stintino to explore the city. Many restaurants will be available for you to try the local food.

Day 6: Back to nature, Cala Sabina

Let’s go back to nature and set sail to the north of the nature reserve to head to Cala Sabina. Completely deserted most of the time, this rocky inlet is home to beautiful beaches, including Cala Giordano and Caletta della Punta dei Corvi, all of them at walking distance from each other. This protected area offers beautiful seabed just waiting to be admired.

Day 7: Back to Ajaccio and layover at Cala Longa

You will set sail early in the morning to go back to Corsica. Our crew will try to catch some fish, and if they are lucky, they will cook the fresh fish for you to enjoy at lunchtime in Cala Longa. This rocky inlet is one of the most beautiful and famous places in Corsica. After your meal, you will be able to swim for the last time before heading back to Ajaccio.

Day 8: End of the cruise

The cruise is already over! We hope that your journey around the north-western part of Sardinia was everything that you dreamed of. Many other itineraries are possible with Marine Vela in Corsica, in Sardinia or in the French Riviera. We hope to see you again soon!
